Composé dans le (home) studio de 20syl à Nantes, '16 pièces' affirme cette volonté de figer le temps, avec des lyrics qui retranscrivent les humeurs spontanées de l'époque. Chaque titre reflète désormais la réflexion lucide d'un rappeur trentenaire, qui a su prendre du recul sans renier sa passion. Musicalement, 20syl refuse toujours de céder aux sirènes éphémères de la mode et revient aux fondamentaux : les nouveaux morceaux s'enfoncent un peu plus loin dans le hip hop de 73 touches, un peu plus profondément dan la soul jazzy de place 54. Invités sur ce disque, Akhénaton et Oxmo Puccino viennent assoir la légitimité du groupe dans la scène rap française.
